If construction associated with an Atmos Energy project damages your lawn, irrigation, driveway, landscaping, structure, or other property, Atmos Energy has a formal claims process. This guide explains the current process using Atmos Energy's own published instructions and adds practical documentation steps that can help you preserve a clear record.

The short answer

Atmos Energy says a person who believes Atmos Energy is responsible for damage or injury may submit a claim with supporting documentation. Atmos currently offers an online claim form and also allows completed claim forms and supporting documentation to be emailed to claims@atmosenergy.com.

Atmos says that after a claim is received, a licensed adjuster will contact the claimant by phone or email, provide contact information, and request any additional documentation needed to process the claim.

Before you submit: document the condition

Before repairs or restoration erase the evidence, preserve a simple factual record. Photograph and video the affected area from multiple angles. Include wider shots that establish location and close-ups that show the damage. Keep the original files whenever possible.

Write down the date and approximate time you first noticed the condition. If you know when crews worked in the area, record that separately rather than guessing. Photograph visible company names on trucks, equipment, barricades, signs, or uniforms when you can lawfully do so.

Keep estimates, invoices, receipts, text messages, emails, claim numbers, and notes of calls. A short factual timeline is usually more useful than a long argument.

How to file the claim

1. Use Atmos Energy's online claim form, or obtain the claim form that matches your type of loss from Atmos Energy's Claims Process page.

2. Complete the form accurately and attach the supporting documents that show what happened and the amount of the claimed loss.

3. Atmos Energy says completed claim forms and supporting documentation may be emailed to claims@atmosenergy.com. Atmos also publishes a postal mailing option on its claims page.

4. Keep an exact copy of everything you submit, including the attachments and the date sent.

5. When an adjuster contacts you, save the adjuster's name, phone number, email address, claim number, and any request for additional documents.

If a contractor was involved

Do not assume you must know every contractor or subcontractor before documenting the incident. Record the project owner or utility you recognize, the location, the work taking place, and any contractor identifiers you can verify. If another company later becomes relevant, add it to your record rather than rewriting the original account.

Right of Way Texas Claim Assist

Right of Way Texas is developing a Claim Assist option for community reports. The goal is simple: a resident enters the facts and uploads the evidence once, reviews the claim package, and then chooses whether to send it through the appropriate claims channel. The claimant—not Right of Way Texas—remains the person making the claim and receiving the response.

Gas emergency? This is not the right process

A property-damage claim is not an emergency channel. Atmos Energy instructs anyone who suspects a natural gas leak to leave the area immediately and, from a safe distance, call 911 and Atmos Energy's 24-hour emergency number at 866-322-8667.
